Find the Medi-Cal help you need - in a few taps.
You have the right to care. Pick your health plan, tell us what you need, and we'll connect you to the right phone number or service - in your language, free.
Help in your language
Pick your language for the basics below, read the whole site in your language with the Language button at the top, and remember: a free interpreter is your right.
Every Medi-Cal plan must give you a free interpreter - by phone or in person - in any language, including American Sign Language. You never have to bring your own, and a child should never have to translate for you.
How to ask: when you call any number on this page, say your language (for example, "Español," "中文," "Tiếng Việt," "한국어," "Հայերեն," "Tagalog," "العربية"). They will connect a free interpreter.
Read everything in your language: use the Language button at the top of the page; it translates the whole site.
How to renew your Medi-Cal
You must renew once a year to keep your coverage. Most people who lose Medi-Cal still qualified - they just missed the paperwork. Here is how to stay covered.
- Keep your contact info current. Make sure your county has your right address, phone, and email so you get your renewal packet. Moved recently? Update it now.
- Watch your mail. Your county mails a renewal packet (often a yellow envelope) once a year. Open it right away and note the due date.
- Renew the easy way. Online at BenefitsCal.com is fastest. You can also renew by phone with your county, by mail, or in person. Some people are renewed automatically and just need to confirm.
- Send any documents on time. If they ask for proof (income, address), send it by the due date. If you miss it, you still have 90 days after coverage ends to turn in your paperwork and get it back.
- Get free help if you are stuck. Call your county, your health plan's Member Services, or the free Health Consumer Alliance. Interpreters are free.
Outside Los Angeles County? Renew through your own county office. Your county's number is on your renewal packet, or call Health Care Options above.
Pick your health plan
Your plan name is on your member ID card. We cover Medi-Cal plans across Los Angeles, Orange, the Inland Empire, Ventura, and Kern. Not sure? Choose "I'm not sure / show me everything."

Type an address or ZIP (or use your location), choose what you need, and we'll map the closest places and list them by distance.
No-car tip: see what's within a short walk or bike, and use the Transit button on any place for live bus directions. (A bus-only area map needs transit schedules we don't have here.)
What do you need today?
Tap a button, or search. When you choose a topic, we'll also pull the latest info live from your plan's official website.

A little prep helps you get more from every appointment. Print this and bring it with you.
- What is my main health problem, in plain words?
- What are my choices for treatment? What are the benefits and risks?
- Will this cost me anything? (Most Medi-Cal care is free.)
- What should I do at home, and when should I call you?
- Do I need any tests, referrals, or a follow-up visit?
- Can I get my prescriptions for less or by mail?
- Can we do the next visit by phone or video (telehealth)?
You have the right to a free interpreter at every visit. You should never have to bring your own or use a child to translate. When you book and when you arrive, say:
"I need a [your language] interpreter for my appointment, please. It is my right under Medi-Cal and it is free."
Examples: Spanish - "Necesito un interprete de espanol, por favor." · 中文 - "我需要中文翻译。" · Tieng Viet - "Toi can thong dich vien tieng Viet."
- Your member ID card and your Medi-Cal BIC card
- A photo ID
- A list of your medicines (or the bottles)
- Your questions (above) and a pen
- A list of your symptoms and when they started
- Any past records or test results you have
